Third-Party Audits Training

Learn everything you need to know about third-party audits from a long-time auditor, a retailer requiring audits, and distributors and cheesemakers who have gone through them. Though intended for cheesemakers, anyone who engages in third-party audits is welcome to attend. This day-long training will be held virtually over zoom and is made up of two segments, which you can register for separately or as one. Marc Bates of Bates Consulting LLC will spearhead the bulk of the training, with two panels also being led by Jessica Gigot, owner and cheesemaker at Harmony Fields in Bow, WA, and by Courtney Johnson, executive director of the Washington State Cheesemakers Association. The focus of this training is for cheesemakers in Washington, but folks in other states are welcome to join as well for the more general information about third party audits. Tentative Outline Part One, Perspectives on Third-Party Audits: Buyer, Distributors, and Cheesemakers (9am-12:15pm PST) Understanding Costco Food Safety and Quality Audit Expectations Perspective of a Distributor (panel) Perspective of a Cheesemaker Who's Passed an Audit (panel) Lunch Break with optional discussion zoom Part Two, Third-Party Audit Training: Deep Dive into the Audit Expectations or Checklists (1pm-4pm PST) We will examine the NSF Supplier Assurance Audit Criteria and the Costco Audit Checklist in depth. Q&A encouraged throughout.
